steve hart
Since bursting onto the club scene in late 1997, Steve has gone from strength to strength to earn a reputation as one of Adelaide’s leading house jocks.
Steve began his dj career through successful entries into dj competitions at 2 of Adelaide’s leading clubs – Chemistry @ Heaven (Thurs) and Nation @ the Tivoli Hotel (Sats). As part of the Nation competition, Steve was asked to play a guest spot on radio station Fresh FM where he was approached by the promoter of RISE nightclub. Steve was asked to compete in a competition for a Friday night spot but he impressed so much that he was withdrawn from the competition and added straight to the Saturday night bill. He also earned a residency at Nation.
Since that time Steve has made his way to the top of the house scene playing at pretty much every club in Adelaide and taking away the award for “Best Up and Coming DJ” at the 2005 SA Dance Music Awards.
As well as his club gigs, Steve has also promoted the very popular RUSH parties and hosted two radio shows – "The Vibe" with fellow Adelaide mainstays RMAC & NRG and currently "Clubbers Drive" with Adelaide’s founding and most well known dj Brendon which took the "Best Radio Show" award at the 2005 SA Dance Music Awards (and the previous 2 years dance awards). They can be heard every Saturday night on Fresh FM 92.7 from 9 – 11pm.
The most recent of Steve’s undertakings see him move into the production realm with studio partner John Morley (DJ Kontrol). Their first tune together entitled "Move to the Groove" was one of the highest requested songs on Fresh FM in early 2006. Their latest song "Tell Me Why" featuring the vocal talents of Kelly Cavuoto (who placed 7th in the first Australian Idol series) reached number 2 on "The Hype" (public voted top20 weekly show on Fresh FM) and placed in the top 20 for 17 weeks in a row and the song is currently signed to a German label with remixes being provided by DONS ("Pump up the Jam"). They have also just completed a remix called "Backroom Djs" for Sydney label Bambam music.
It is Steve’s attitude towards music and entertainment that has seen him escalate himself from early spots at small bars to peaktime performances at Adelaide’s major venues over his Dj career. His impeccable track selection and mixing ability as well as entertainment value have quickly ensured that he is one dj who punters do not want to miss.
Steve’s current residencies include HQ, Soho, Loco, RISE, Savvy and Solbar where he continues to push his energetic house and electro style.
